3J Contingency Planning Services, Ltd. is owned and operated by James O. Price, Jr.
His experience includes 27 years focusing on Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Planning. He holds the certifications of Master Business Continuity Professional and Certified Business Continuity Vendor from the Disaster Recovery Institute International. James is also a member of the Business Continuity Institute (MBCI) and is ITIL Foundation Certified. He has written, exercised and tested plans for organizations in the public and private sector. He has also been a public speaker and author of articles on the subject of contingency planning.
His career began in the banking industry in the Transit Operations Department. He moved quickly to Data Center management and became involved in telecommunications.
His accomplishments include
- designing the Atlanta Data Center used by AT&T for its telemarketing center
- developing the DR plan/program for a joint venture program that included EDS for
a federal project to process loans for savings and loan institutions
In 2004, he was employed by the State of Georgia Technology Authority. His accomplishments include:
- serving as the subject matter expert for the Georgia Digital Academy on
Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery - coordinating a tabletop exercise that
included several state agencies
- providing support for state agencies in the development of business continuity
plans
- writing plans and conducting successful tests on the State's critical mainframe
infrastructure
- establishing the framework for the statewide standardization for creating
plans
As an independent consultant, Mr. Price has worked on building plans for banks, insurance companies and served as consultant for the National Education Association. Mr. Price is a former member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the Disaster Recovery Journal magazine and continues as a member of the DRJ and DRII Glossary Committees. Mr. Price is an instructor for the Disaster Recovery Institute International and the Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) program and a member of various industry related groups including being a charter member of the Atlanta Chapter of the Association of Contingency Planners. He has also volunteered as a Team Captain for the American Red Cross Disaster Assistance Team.
His experience includes consulting for other state governments, large banks, insurance companies and medical organizations. He is also an industry-published author and has spoken at conferences throughout the country. In 2016, 3J Contingency Planning Services, Ltd. was a sponsor and Mr. Price presented at a Disaster Management Conference in Trinidad/Tobago.
In 2014, Mr. Price was a nominee for the Disaster Recovery International Institute's Lifetime Achievement Award.
